Sound familiar?

Your hair feels like straw by Wednesday. Again.

You bought the good shampoo. Then the mask, the leave-in and the bond repair. Your hair still feels dry a day or two after washing, your colour fades weeks before the next appointment, and the bathroom smells faintly like a public pool after every hot shower.

Before the next bottle, look at what comes out of the shower head. Australian tap water is treated with chlorine or chloramine to keep it safe to drink, which is a good thing. In a long, hot shower, that same chlorine is what you smell, and it is what your hair stands in every single morning.

Showerkind is a small, honest fix for the chlorine part: a filter that goes between your shower arm and the shower head you already have. No plumber, no new shower head, no subscription.

How it works

Sixty seconds. No plumber.

  1. Unscrew your shower head

Turn the water off and unscrew your shower head from the arm by hand. Keep it: it goes back on in a minute.

  2. Screw the filter on

Wrap the thread tape around the arm's thread, put in a washer and screw the filter on, hand-tight. If the cartridge came packed on its own, twist the housing open and drop it in first.

  3. Put your shower head back

Screw your own shower head onto the bottom of the filter with the second washer. Run the water for a minute to rinse the new cartridge. Done.

It is not a water softener and not a drinking water filter. It helps reduce chlorine in your shower water. A small drop in pressure is normal on low-pressure systems.

Will it fit?

Check your shower in ten seconds.

It fits

A fixed shower arm that comes out of the wall, with a separate shower head that screws onto it. The filter has a standard 1/2 inch thread on both ends: it screws onto the arm, and your shower head screws onto the filter.

It does not fit

One-piece rail sets where the head and hose are built into a sliding rail, and rain heads fixed straight to the ceiling without an arm. It also adds about 12 cm between the arm and the head, so check the headroom. Not sure? Email a photo of your shower to [email protected] before you order and we tell you honestly.

Better showers start before the shower head.

Who it is for

Made for people who have tried every shampoo.

  • Dry hair, whatever you use

If your hair feels better after a week away than it does at home, the water is worth a look. If the bathroom smells like a pool after a hot shower, even more so.

  • Coloured, blonde or grey hair

Chlorine is one of the things that can dull colour. Filtering your shower water is a cheap thing to try before the next appointment.

  • Two bathrooms, two people

The Both bathrooms 2-pack is A$99 for two filters, so nobody gets stuck with the unfiltered shower.

  • Renters

No plumber, no drilling, no new shower head. When you move out, it unscrews in a minute and comes with you.

Our partner warehouse in China, direct to your door

Care

  • Change the cartridge about every 2 months, or sooner if the flow drops or the chlorine smell comes back
  • To change it: turn the water off, unscrew the housing by hand, swap the cartridge, screw it back together
  • Wipe the chrome with a soft damp cloth. Skip scourers, bleach and harsh bathroom sprays
  • Hand-tight is enough. Use the thread tape and the washers so nothing drips

In the box

  • The Showerkind filter with chrome-finish housing
  • One 15-layer filter cartridge
  • A roll of thread seal tape
  • Two rubber washers
  • Fitting instructions
  • 6-month kit: two spare cartridges as well. Both bathrooms 2-pack: two of everything

Safety

  • For shower water only. It is not a drinking water filter and not a water softener.
  • Fit it hand-tight. A wrench can crack the thread or the housing.
  • If your shower arm is loose in the wall or its thread is damaged, ask a plumber before you fit anything to it.

Use it for 60 days. If your hair does not feel softer, email [email protected] with your order number and a photo of the filter on your shower. We refund the full price.

You do not have to send it back. Posting a used filter back across the world costs more than it is worth, so keep it. One guarantee claim per order.

Questions

Straight answers.

Will it fit my shower?

It fits a shower with a fixed arm coming out of the wall and a separate shower head that screws onto that arm. The filter has a standard 1/2 inch thread on both ends: it screws onto the arm, and your shower head screws onto the filter.

It does not fit one-piece rail sets where the head and hose are built into a sliding rail, or rain heads fixed straight to the ceiling without an arm. A hand shower on a hose can often take it between the wall outlet and the hose, if that joint unscrews. The filter adds about 12 cm between the arm and the head, so check you still have enough headroom.

Not sure? Email a photo of your shower to [email protected] before you order and we tell you honestly whether it fits.

What does it actually do?

On its way to your shower head, the water runs through a cartridge with 15 layers of filter media. It helps reduce chlorine, which is what gives tap water its pool smell. The smell is usually the first thing you notice. Give your hair a few weeks before you judge it; that is why the guarantee runs for 60 days. We do not quote lab percentages, because we do not have a test report we would put our name to.

Does it work with chloramine?

Some Australian supplies, including parts of Sydney and Melbourne, use chloramine instead of plain chlorine. Chloramine is harder for any shower filter to remove, so the change in smell can be smaller. If it does nothing for you, the 60-day guarantee covers it.

Is it a water softener? Will it stop limescale?

No. Hard water, the kind that leaves white crust on the glass in Perth and Adelaide, is full of calcium and magnesium, and taking those out needs a whole-house softener. Be wary of any small shower filter that promises it. Ours helps reduce chlorine in the water that lands on your hair, and the shower screen will still need a wipe.

Will it lower my water pressure?

It is not a shower head and does not change your shower's flow rating. The water has to pass through the cartridge, so a small drop in pressure is normal, mostly on low-pressure systems such as gravity-fed hot water. If the flow drops a lot after some weeks, the cartridge is due for a change.

How often do I change the cartridge?

About every 2 months, sooner in a busy bathroom or when the chlorine smell comes back. A spare cartridge is A$25 in the buy box, or take the 6-month kit with two spares. Changing it takes a minute: unscrew the housing by hand, swap the cartridge, screw it back.

Is it the same as a filter shower head?

No. A filter shower head replaces your shower head. Ours goes in between, so you keep the shower head you already have and like.

Why does it ship from China, and how long does it take?

We work with a fulfilment partner whose warehouse is in China, close to where the filter is made. That keeps the price down. It ships within 1‑3 business days and arrives within 8‑14 business days of your order, with tracking the whole way.

Will I pay customs, duty or GST on delivery?

No. The price at checkout is all you pay. Shipping is free.

What if I am not happy with it?

Email us within 60 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the filter on your shower. If your hair does not feel softer, we refund the full price and you keep the filter. If it arrives faulty or damaged, we replace or refund it, as the Australian Consumer Law requires. See the returns and guarantee policy.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, until it ships. Email [email protected] with your order number and we cancel it for a full refund.

How can I pay?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Link, through Stripe's secure checkout. We never see your card number. We do not offer Afterpay at the moment.

Are there reviews?

Not yet. We are a new brand and we will not invent any. Reviews will appear here once real customers write them, the good and the bad.

Who is behind this

A note from the Showerkind team.

Showerkind is a small brand from Codext GmbH, a software company in southern Germany. We started it because the complaint is so common: people try one hair product after another, when the first thing worth checking is the water coming out of the shower head.

We chose an in-line filter rather than a filter shower head because most people already have a shower head they like, and because it should fit without a plumber or a single tool.

We are new, so here is what we can promise instead of reviews: real specs, honest delivery times, a reply from a real person within one business day, and a guarantee that does not make you post anything back across the world.

If something is not right, write to [email protected]. Codext GmbH, Frankenstraße 10, 74549 Wolpertshausen, Germany. Phone +49 7904 5203106.
